The Community Foundation of Jackson County recently hosted the first Golf for Youth Junior Golf Classic at Shadowood Golf Course in Seymour. Thirty-one young golfers ranging from ages 6 to 17 participated in the tournament, overcoming heat and humidity to shoot some impressive scores.
Each golfer age 11 and under received a trophy for participation. Trophies were awarded to the male and female winner in the 12-13, 14-15 and 16-18 year-old age divisions. Girls placing first in their age groups were Emma Zabor, Maggie Tidd, Danielle Shelley and Fayeann Hurley. Boys placing first were Jackson Lahrman, Alex Lovins, Gavin Bane, Daniel Shepard, Blake Otte and Ethan Banister.
All proceeds from the event support the Jackson County Youth Foundation, with all monies granted to various youth organizations in Jackson County.
