Unique Types of Funds for Your Type of Giving
When giving to the Community Foundation of Jackson County, you can choose the right investment vehicle for you! We have several types of charitable funds available, and encourage you to pick the one that fits your unique, philanthropic intent. Take some time to review your options and feel free to contact one of our staff members with any and all questions:
Donor Advised Funds
With Donor Advised funds, you actively control the grant process. This type of fund allows you, as the charitable investor, to recommend projects and organizations you feel are in need. You can give to multiple non-profits easily via this method, and the Board of Directors will handle the approval process for you.
Designated funds allow you choose a unique and specific cause or agency for your funding. The Board of Directors can allocate all funds for you to this endeavor, and redirect the funds to something similar should the charity cease to exist. This type of fund is especially useful for non-profits, as it allows them to grow their assets, meet present and future needs, provides them with a steady stream of annual income, and lets them focus on serving the community in perpetuity. Also, the central focus and benefit of this type of fund is the managerial oversight of our Board of Directors at The Community Foundation of Jackson County.
Field of Interest Funds
Field of Interest Funds support specific programs, areas of interest, or initiatives in a geographical area. The use of any funds is strictly restricted to the specific area of interest, but is still flexible enough to change with shifting circumstances.
Scholarship Funds can benefit students or educational institutions at any level. Some donors choose to honor their loved ones through scholarships and decide to stay involved with the management and advisory of the funds. Others provide the donation and let our management team assist in the selection of the most worthy student or facility. Either way, The Community Foundation of Jackson County handles all the paperwork.
Unrestricted Funds serve the greatest needs of the community. Not assigned to any particular charity, organization, or cause, these funds can be used at the discretion of our Board of Directors and spread out to serve Jackson County’s various and unique needs.
